Applications of GPRS Cellular Modem
Applications of GPRS Cellular Modem in Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) System
A global system integrator establishes advanced Automated Meter Reading (AMI) System for a power company by using NXN GPRS cellular modem (the iDT1-1420G Series) as the framework of its communication system.
【Requirements for Application】
Multi-interface, availability to connect to various devices, such as: RS-232/422/485, DI/DO, and GPRS.
Support a variety of local telecommunication services that provide different types of IP Address class.
Complete Modbus Protocol conversion, Virtual Com Port, TCP / IP Redirection.
Reliable and stable transmission in communication and able to connect to multiple data centers.
Connection established by voice-call or customized time schedule.
The iDT1-1420G cellular modem provides selectable RS-232/422/485 serial ports, allowing user to connect with E-Meter directly to acquire the value of voltage, current, power, etc. The DI/DO ports can be connected with sensors to conduct on-site environmental alarms system. The iDT1-1420G supports TCP/IP Protocol and Share Port, and all I/O interfaces can act as TCP Client or TCP Server. It also enables multiple control centers to acquire data from different meter simultaneously. In addition, the EZComm Software offers IP to virtual serial port conversion & TCP/IP port redirection, which caters to the variety of local telecommunication services that provide different types of IP Address class. These features of the iDT1-1420G not only help system integrators to deal with complicated communication problems, but also save the costly expense from customized services.
